Press Launch for major new heritage development A local housing charity is to hold a festive open morning at their major development scheme in Bury St Edmunds.
St Matthew Housing's latest project is the complete renovation and rejuvenation of a Grade II listed Malthouse, the last remaining one in the town and a building ‘at risk'.
The scheme, when completed, will become an important historical feature, and hopefully part of the town's Heritage Trail.
The old Malthouse will receive a new lease of life and become a versatile structure within the town. It is to house a Heritage Centre, celebrating the historical features of the building. A unique Kiln café will be run by St Matthew Housing residents, providing valuable training and qualifications for the workers. Five new flats will also be built tackling the issue of social housing within the town.
The press event will be held on Tuesday 20 th December at 9.00am. Refreshments and a short tour of the site will be provided. Anyone wishing to receive more information about the open event and the Malthouse Project should contact the Funding and Marketing Department on 01284 732554.
