Legacies
Legacies are an important source of funding for most charities and provide a large percentage of
income for many.
St Matthew Housing is extremely grateful to all those who remember us in their Will.
Although a sensitive subject the issues surrounding making a Will are receiving greater and greater
publicity. It is only by having a valid Will that you can be certain your family and friends are
taken care of when you are no longer here.
Unfortunately, if you do not have an up-to-date Will, you cannot be sure that your possessions will pass to those you wish to benefit. Even your spouse or children may not receive what you want them to. Distant relatives may have a claim on your estate, and friends and causes you care about may not be acknowledged at all.
If you have no immediate family and your Will is not correctly made, everything you possess could go to the State. A Will that is unclear can result in legal costs and wrangles which cause delay and heartache for those left behind.
For all these reasons making or updating your Will makes sense, and you will find it costs relatively little to do. Seven out of 10 people in this country die without ever making a Will - please do not add to this statistic.
By leaving a legacy to St Matthew Housing you can be assured that you are making a lasting contribution which will continue to work long after your death.
