Fundraising is an important source of income, which helps us develop and improve our housing and enhance our services.
Central Office Fundraising: An Overview
In order to fundraise for varying projects St Matthew Housing issue application forms or bids to many trusts and foundations on both a local and national level. However, funds from these traditionally high value organisations are decreasing. St Matthew Housing uses other innovative methods to meet their targets. These include corporate fundraising, private giving, covenants and private/personal foundations. SMH still works to maintain key links with trusts in addition to these sources. In addition, SMH works with Cards for Good Causes to sell St Matthew Housing Christmas cards which raises on average £5,000 a year.
Regional Fundraising: An Overview
There is a real need to consider new ways of encouraging new donors and to work across the region to introduce more grass roots activity. At present, all volunteers, Friends and staff are encouraged to undertake local fundraising. This money can be used to fund house ‘Welfare Funds’ or can even be donated to the Central Office for new build projects. St Matthew Housing has its own local fundraising guidelines which can be accessed by clicking here.
