Our aim is to provide good quality supported housing and floating support throughout East Anglia and the East Midlands. For single, vulnerable people to enable them to lead fulfilled lives in line with their own hopes and wishes.
St Matthew Housing (SMH) was founded in 1973 in response to the needs of homeless people in Norwich. We now work throughout six counties in East Anglia and the East Midlands with SMH's Central Office in Bury St Edmunds. SMH provides accommodation to over 600 people and resettlement and floating support to over 700 people.
Accommodation Based Service
We offer three types of accommodation:
- Houses
SMH
provides 42 schemes offering accommodation to individuals who require day-to-day support. The house is managed by a team consisting of at least one Housing Support Worker and two Project Workers. Each resident has the opportunity to learn life skills and receive support tailored to their individual needs. Residents have their own room and shared use of communal facilities including the kitchen, lounge, garden and laundry.
- Group Homes
Living in one of the 18 Group Homes provides residents with more independence. Residents do thier own shopping and cook all thier meals in a shared kitchen. Group Homes are situated close to other SMH accommodation to ensure staff are nearby should the residents require assistance.
- Move-On Flats
Move on Flats offer residents the chance to live independently, yet still receive support when required. St Matthew Housing provides 164 flats across the region. Each one is situated close to another SMH housing scheme ensuring support is available nearby. Residents have the chance to live in thier own self contained accommodation and experience what life would be like living independently.
Floating Support Service
St Matthew Housing offers Floating Support to individuals who live independently in the community. These service users may be tenants of local authorities, live in privately rented or their own accommodation or be tenants of other housing associations. A team of 30 Floating Support Workers assistant service users across the region with bespoke support plans to ensure they can sustain their accommodation and remain independently.
